Greater crested terns (Thalasseus bergii) are one of the migra- tory birds that move from Sri Lanka to the remote islands of the Gulf of Mannar every year. What they do is an extreme journey, made difficult by the terrible heat and humidity, in pla- ces without shelter. I wanted to document their difficult living conditions and habitat and I think I succeeded with this incre- dible aerial image, which depicts a truly unique moment of na- tural history.
